So this morning I wanted to make some smoothies. I have not had any fruit for the past few weeks and its really not helping with the whole balance diet concept I am trying to improve on. I had used a organic low cal mango and banana smoothie mix, almond milk and tofu to make the smoothie but it still needed something else to round out the flavor. Something sweet but since I haven't gone grocery shopping due to the trip, I was fairly limited. And that's when the light bulb went off in my head to use the frozen bananas that I had been saving for bread.
This was my dilemma, the bananas were still in there skin and couldn't be peeled! What to do? my time was running short as we have to be out of the house by 5:15 am for work and it was 5:08 when I discovered this snag in my plans. But don't worry! I came up with a solution for this and I thought it was fairly cleaver! I broke the banana in half and took a potato peeler and peeled it like a cucumber. To my amazement it worked like a charm!
I was very excited that this worked! I thought the skin would be to thick and it would get the peeler stuck but that's not the case at all. So that's my discovery for the week! I hope this helps someone else who likes to keep frozen bananas. Anyone else use a potato peeler in a unique way? Let me know!
