Gluten Free MacroTreats are made fresh daily and shipped immediately to health food stores and other retailers thus ensuring a fresh minimally processed treat. They contain no gluten, dairy, eggs or animal products. MacroTreats are sweetened with organic agave nectar which is low-glycemic thus avoiding the blood sugar spikes associated with refined sugars, evaporated cane juice and dates. All MacroTreats are certified organic. Baked with whole grains, pea fiber, flax sprouts, fruit and nuts, the high fiber content and the slow-burning complex carbs boost energy levels throughout the day. (Taken from the website)
Now That you have an idea of what these snacks are, let me tell you these Macro Treats are one of the best GF Foods I have tasted in a long time. These are nothing but a glorified cookie to be sure. I mean 14 grams of Fat per cookie is way over the top! I have to remind myself of this because I can eat two or three of these throughout the day. I really love the Vanilla Almond cookie the most. The Vanilla flavor comes out nicely without tasting fake but as well as over powering the almond taste in the cookie.
My biggest complaint about these cookies is that they are wicked soft and are crumby. I find this is pretty common in your soft GF cookies. I wish I could find a soft cookie that didn't fall apart. Also the price per cookie is $2.10 at my Local Health Food Store. However I found a place called the kushistore on line that prices them as a $1.99 and it looks like they do not charge shipping. This store is located in Becket, MA and I have never bought items from this store. I may in the future especially for these cookies.
When I found these cookies I really felt that being GF sensitive wasn't really that bad and to me that is half the battle. I try very hard to let people know that this is not something I wanted to do with my food but what I have to do in order to live a productive life. I had the opportunity at my workplace to do a presentation on "How to Live a Gluten Free Life" and I was so surprised at the reaction and interest that was generated from my speech. I am happy that I have to work on this, It really isn't the end of the world!
