Our Mr. Coffee Maker finally stopped working a few months ago and I got tiered of heating up hot water on the stove then pouring it through the filter decided it was time to get a new Coffee Maker. I must say it has been some time since I had the need to get a new one. Mr. Coffee did well and died at a ripe old age of 10 yrs give or take one since my Grandmother gave it to my sister and she passed it to me.
I could not believe all the gadgets these new coffee makers have on them. What happened to the Dump and Pour Verity? They seem to have all sorts of buttons and settings that would make your head spin. However after the first coffee maker we bought would not make coffee, and had to return it. Randy and I settled on Giada De Laurentiis GCM-100 Coffee Maker.
I must say I am very very pleased with this model. So far we have had it for about a month now and I love it. First let's talk about the looks of this coffee maker. This picture does not do this device justice! I love the stainless steel look to the pot. The Dimensions of the device follows Length: 14.5 "; Width: 6.75 "; Depth: 10.25 " and fits nicely on the counter-tops. I have a very limited counter-top so this was a huge plus for me. Secondly, I like the carafe as it gives me art deco kinda feel to it. The lid is also easy to pop open and pour so you don't drip the coffee everywhere! Cats drinking coffee is not a good thing! (Another post for sure) Also I like that the carafe has a wide handle so you can not burn yourself on the glass. Thirdly, I have to say this is an easy to use coffee maker. It has some great features like Brew Pause and programmable feature so if you want your coffee ready at a certain time. Though I haven't read the manual to learn out to do that. The manual is thin and in English only. I didn't see a Spanish or French instruction booklet in the box like I normally see in other appliances.
I would give Giada De Laurentiis GCM-100 Coffee Maker a 8 out of 10 for three main reasons. First, this coffee maker has a 2 hr safty switch. That being said, I like to drink coffee all morning on the weekends and that two hour feature kicks in really quick! Secondly, this is only a 10 cup coffee pot. I thought a 12 cup coffee pot would be the norm and with two coffee drinkers in the home I feel like we get two cups each (Granted my cup is rather big) and I need to make another pot. Thirdly, This coffee pot uses the triangle filters not the basket filters. No where did I see this on the box when I purchased this. So I have been using the basket filters up before I go and buy the triangle filters. All In all though it is one of the best appliances I have purchased in a while! I would definitely buy more of her line at Target.
to the above (or Below) poster (Amanda to be exact).. thanks for your Review. I would've liked to hear about the quality of coffee that the maker produces.. not all coffee makers are made equal and not all coffee makers make coffee equally (if that makes sense) too many times Have I had coffee from a home coffee maker and dang near had to force it down. We had a Krupps coffee maker that made Fantastic coffee it lasted 10 years. I looked at the Giada coffee maker and a Wanger brand coffee maker. The wanger is $20 bucks more but when it comes to taste i'll pay the extra money. I'm all about quality of the coffee not the gadgets or the styling nor features. A taste review would be greatly appreciated.
How does the lid come off? We've had great difficulty getting it off and feels like it will break. What's the secret?
To the Anonymous Poster who spoke about the Lid, You know come to think of it, I have never taken the lid off. When I clean the coffee pot I stick it in the dishwasher and the lid is just opened. I will see how or if it will come off.
my son threw away the programmable instructions can someone help me out with instructions or phone number to call to get new ones any help will be appreciated
I am sorry your son threw away the instructions. I don’t have mine as well but I did do a search on the net and I found you have to hold the start button down until it flashes green. I tried looking for the manufacture but haven’t found that either so my best guess would be to go to Target and have one opened or look on the box for the 800 number. Sorry I couldn’t help much.
First, make sure the time is set [press PROG button until is says CLOCK], press the hour and minute buttons for the corrent time.
To Program: press program button twice or until TIMER is displayed. Press hour/minute buttons for the brew time you wish. Press PROG again until CLOCK or TIMER disappears. Hold ON/OFF button for 3 seconds to set the AUTO function. The green AUTO light will illuminate to confirm that you have set the timer.
I need help too: after only 2 weeks, I broke the carafe to my Giada coffee maker (which I love), called the 866# (which is Cuisinart) and they have none in stock ... Target is my next stop ... Target.com does not show as available. Big bummer.
I bought this coffee maker also. Pleez lurn hale to speel.LOL
I bought this coffee maker a number of years ago and it worked great and makes a nice cup of coffee, but the carafe is awful. I sent them an email and told them the spout of the carafe is defective, when I pour a cup of coffee half of it would end up on the counter, and that was with normal pouring. For the years that I have had it, I have had to pour it super slow and still have a paper towel under the cup to catch the coffee that still ends up on the counter. As stated I contacted them about the carafe and asked if they could send me a new one. I sent two messages, never received a reply back to either one. Last week the coffee maker started leaking from the bottom, so it was time to purchase a new one. I don't even know if Giada still makes a coffee maker, but their lack of customer service definitely made my decision easy not to purchase another Giada product. I bought a Capresso, so far I am very please with it, and the coffee is brewed in 7 minutes and has a beautiful aroma and full bodied taste. It has a stainless steel thermal carafe, so it saves electricity too and keeps the coffee really hot for 3-4 hours after brewing. I would highly recommend.
